The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the Class 12 results for 2026 soon on its official website, cbse.gov.in. Earlier speculation suggested an April 30 release, but Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj clarified to PTI that results will be declared in the third week of May. However, a banner on the DigiLocker website published on May 10, 2026, reignited anticipation among students.
DigiLocker Post Adds to Confusion
On May 11, 2026, DigiLocker posted on social media urging students not to wait for result day and providing instructions for creating accounts using APAAR-linked credentials and school-issued codes. This post, coming after the banner, has caused growing anxiety and frustration on social media platforms, as students interpret it as a sign of an imminent result declaration.
Contrast with Previous Year Patterns
The confusion stems from a departure from past trends. In earlier years, DigiLocker notifications often preceded result declarations by a short period. For instance, CBSE Class 10 results saw DigiLocker status updated on April 14, 2026, with results declared the next day, April 15. This precedent led Class 12 students to expect a similar timeline, but the prolonged wait and lack of a confirmed date have amplified uncertainty.
Students Express Mental Health Concerns
The repeated “coming soon” messaging without a specific date has drawn sharp reactions online. Students say the ambiguity is affecting their mental well-being. Shreya Jaiswal tweeted, “CBSE tweeting ‘don’t wait for tomorrow’ and now the entire country is collectively having anxiety attacks? At this point they’re not releasing results, they’re testing students’ blood pressure.” Another user, Hawk-eye, criticized the updates: “At this point of time they are just disturbing the students mentally. What’s the point in posting ‘coming soon’ when you can’t reveal the date? Shame!”
Shubham added, “Please, if you don’t want to tell the date, then don’t just say ‘coming soon’ every hour through different platforms. It seriously increases my anxiety.”
Demands for Greater Transparency
Several students have appealed to CBSE to communicate a clear date and time. Mawia Jawed wrote, “I am requesting you to please change this habit, or at least provide a specific date or time so students can feel reassured.” Another student, using the handle SEVEN, pointed out that many are simultaneously preparing for competitive exams and college admissions: “A humble request to please tell us a particular date instead of posting ‘coming soon’ on DigiLocker and Umang. That increases our anxiety while we have other exams to prepare for.”
Jitu gamer22 wrote, “We are mentally disturbed. Don’t create such suspense. Give verified information. What kind of behavior is this?”
Broader Impact on Students
The online reactions reflect the emotional strain of today’s examination culture, where students face academic pressure and uncertainty fueled by digital speculation. Social media is flooded with unofficial updates, rumors, and prediction posts, leading many to check notifications repeatedly. Mental health experts caution that ambiguous communication during high-stakes periods can intensify stress among adolescents.
As of now, CBSE has not officially announced the exact date and time for the Class 12 board results. Until then, the phrase “coming soon” carries more tension than reassurance for thousands of waiting students.
