The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has defended its Online Single Marking (OSM) evaluation system following controversy over the Class 12 results. The board clarified that the OSM process ensures accuracy and transparency, and students unsatisfied with their marks can apply for re-evaluation of their answer books.
CBSE's Defense of OSM Evaluation
CBSE stated that the OSM system involves a single evaluator marking each answer sheet online, with strict quality checks to minimize errors. The board emphasized that this method has been refined over years and is reliable. It also highlighted that the system includes a verification process where answer books are randomly checked by senior evaluators.
Opportunity for Re-Evaluation
Students who believe their marks do not reflect their performance can apply for re-evaluation of their answer books. The process involves a detailed review by a different evaluator. CBSE has urged students to use this opportunity if they have concerns about the evaluation.
Controversy Over Class 12 Results
The controversy arose after some students reported discrepancies in their marks, leading to protests and demands for a re-evaluation. CBSE's clarification aims to address these concerns and restore confidence in the examination process.
CBSE also advised students to check their answer books online before applying for re-evaluation. The board has set a deadline for applications and will announce the results of re-evaluation within a specified timeframe.
