The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examinations have come under severe scrutiny after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several students alleged widespread malpractices. In a series of tweets, Gandhi claimed that the Modi government has turned another institution into a symbol of rigging, stating that for the first time in decades, serious questions have been raised about the CBSE board exams.
Students Raise Concerns
Gandhi highlighted that over 18.5 lakh students appeared for the exams, and complaints regarding OSM (Online Submission of Marks), incorrect marking, and evaluation irregularities have been ignored for a week. He also criticized the Education Minister for remaining silent on the issue.
Adding to the controversy, a CBSE Class 12 student named Vedant shared his ordeal on social media. He applied for photocopies of his answer sheets after receiving unexpectedly low marks in Physics. Upon receiving the copies, he discovered that the answer sheet uploaded by CBSE was not his. His brother, Siddhant Srivastava, further clarified that Vedant did not have a Twitter account earlier as he was busy studying, and the family created the account to highlight his genuine issues after being unable to apply for reevaluation.
Demand for Action
The incidents have sparked outrage among students and parents, who are demanding a thorough investigation and immediate rectification of errors. Many have taken to social media to share similar experiences, questioning the credibility of the examination process.
The CBSE has yet to issue an official response to the allegations. Meanwhile, the opposition has called for a parliamentary discussion on the matter, accusing the government of compromising the future of millions of students.
