The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has announced the Class 10 examination results, revealing a pass percentage of 83.87%. This marks the third consecutive year of improvement in the pass rate, reflecting a positive trend in the state's educational outcomes.
Key Highlights of the Result
This year, a total of 1,85,234 students appeared for the Class 10 examinations. Among them, 1,55,317 students successfully passed, showcasing a steady increase from previous years. In 2023, the pass percentage was 80.32%, while in 2022 it stood at 76.45%. The consistent rise indicates enhanced academic performance and possibly improved teaching methodologies.
Gender-wise Performance
Girls once again outperformed boys in the examinations. The pass percentage for female students reached 87.55%, while male students achieved a pass rate of 80.42%. This gender gap has been a consistent feature in recent years, with girls maintaining a lead of over 7 percentage points.
District-wise Analysis
Among the districts, Hamirpur recorded the highest pass percentage at 92.34%, followed by Bilaspur with 91.12% and Kangra with 90.45%. On the other hand, the districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti reported lower pass rates, at 72.18% and 70.56% respectively. The state education department has taken note of these disparities and plans to implement targeted interventions in underperforming regions.
Toppers and Subject Performance
The board has also released the list of top performers. The topper, a student from Hamirpur, scored 99.2% marks. Several students from Kangra and Mandi also featured in the top 10 list. In terms of subjects, Mathematics and Science saw improved results, while Social Studies and English continued to be challenging for many students.
Comparison with Previous Years
The pass percentage has been on an upward trajectory over the past three years. In 2021, the pass rate was 73.12%, which increased to 76.45% in 2022, 80.32% in 2023, and now 83.87% in 2024. This consistent improvement is attributed to various initiatives by the state government, including teacher training programs, digital learning resources, and regular assessments.
