The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 is scheduled to be conducted today, May 17, 2026. This prestigious examination is the gateway for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other premier engineering institutions across the country. Candidates who have qualified in JEE Main 2026 are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

Exam Schedule and Shift Timings

JEE Advanced 2026 will be held in two shifts. The first shift will commence at 9:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM. The second shift will start at 2:30 PM and end at 5:30 PM. Candidates are advised to report to their respective exam centers at least one hour before the scheduled start time to complete the necessary formalities.

Important Instructions for Candidates

  • Admit Card: Candidates must carry a printed copy of the JEE Advanced 2026 admit card along with a valid photo ID proof (such as Aadhaar card, passport, or driver's license). No candidate will be allowed to enter the exam hall without the admit card.
  • Reporting Time: The reporting time for the first shift is 8:00 AM, and for the second shift, it is 1:30 PM. Latecomers will not be permitted to take the examination.
  • Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, electronic gadgets, study materials, and any other unauthorized items are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
  • COVID-19 Guidelines: Although the pandemic situation has improved, candidates are advised to follow any health protocols issued by the exam conducting authority. Wearing masks and maintaining social distancing may be recommended.

Exam Day Guidelines

On the day of the examination, candidates must adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a smooth experience:

  1. Dress Code: Candidates are advised to wear light clothing and avoid any metallic accessories. Shoes with thick soles may be subject to inspection.
  2. Stationery: Only pens and pencils provided by the exam center are allowed. Candidates should not bring their own stationery items.
  3. Biometric Verification: Biometric verification (fingerprint and photograph) will be conducted at the exam center. Candidates must cooperate with the authorities.
  4. Seating Arrangement: Candidates will be assigned specific seats. They should not change seats without permission from the invigilator.

Post-Exam Process

After the examination, the answer keys will be released within a few days. Candidates can challenge the answer keys if they find discrepancies. The results of JEE Advanced 2026 are expected to be announced in June 2026. Successful candidates will be eligible for the counseling process for admission to IITs and other participating institutes.
