In a notable shift during the 2025 Common Entrance Test (CET) in Karnataka, students from the state Pre University board outperformed their CBSE counterparts in several streams, while CBSE candidates continued to dominate engineering.
Engineering Toppers
Among the top 10 rank holders in the engineering stream, seven were from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and three were from the Pre University board. Tanisha Karthik emerged as the engineering topper, showcasing exceptional performance.
Agriculture and Veterinary Streams
In the agriculture stream, Ninaad Vasisht secured the top rank, while Nayana Gopi topped the veterinary stream. Both are from the state board, highlighting the strength of the Karnataka Pre University curriculum in these fields.
Overall Performance
The results indicate a competitive landscape where state board students excel in agriculture and veterinary sciences, while CBSE students lead in engineering. The CET 2025 saw a total of over 1.5 lakh candidates appearing, with rigorous evaluation criteria.
Education experts attribute the state board's success in agriculture and veterinary to the focused curriculum and practical training offered in these subjects. Meanwhile, CBSE's engineering dominance reflects its strong foundation in mathematics and science.
The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) released the results on June 6, 2026, with detailed rank lists available on the official website. Candidates are advised to check their ranks and proceed with counseling schedules.
