The Kerala state recorded a pass percentage of 77.97% in this year's higher secondary examination, the results of which were announced on Tuesday. This marks a slight increase from the previous academic year's pass percentage of 77.81%.
Gender Performance
Girls continued to outshine boys in the latest results. While 84.89% of girls cleared the exam, only 68.41% of boys became eligible for higher studies. General Education Minister N. Samsudheen announced the results.
Overall Statistics
A total of 3,72,423 candidates appeared for the higher secondary examination held in March 2026. Of these, 2,90,381 candidates qualified for higher studies. The results were finalized after considering the marks scored by students in their first-year higher secondary examination as well.
Stream-wise Performance
Stream-wise results reflect a higher pass percentage in the science stream at 84.52%. The pass percentages in commerce and humanities streams were 74.74% and 66.38%, respectively.
Category-wise Performance
Among Scheduled Caste students, 58.95% cleared the examination, while among Scheduled Tribe candidates, the pass percentage stood at 65.33%.
School Management-wise Performance
Students of aided schools recorded an 82.82% pass rate, compared to 72.66% in government schools and 78.18% in unaided schools.
Top Performers
There was a marginal increase in the number of students who secured A+ in all subjects. A total of 30,561 candidates secured all A+, up from 30,145 last year. Among all A+ holders, 23,095 are girls and 7,466 are boys. The highest number of students with all A+ came from the science stream (22,970), followed by commerce (5,264) and humanities (2,327). As many as 60 students achieved full marks (1200 out of 1200), compared to 41 candidates last year. To become eligible for higher studies, a minimum of 30% is required.
District-wise Performance
Idukki recorded the highest pass percentage among districts at 84.64%, while Kasargod had the lowest at 71.72%. The highest number of candidates appeared from Government Higher Secondary School, Thiroorangadi, Malappuram, with 835 candidates. Malappuram also secured the highest number of all A+ holders at 4,621.
Other Streams
Results for the higher secondary technical stream, art stream, and open school were also announced. The technical stream recorded a 72.82% pass rate, the art stream 82.54%, and the open school 50.92%. Meanwhile, the vocational higher secondary examination recorded a 72.49% pass percentage, with 25,259 candidates appearing for the VHSE exam.
