Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has created an environment for women to realise their full potential. Addressing a gathering, he highlighted the various initiatives and policies that have contributed to women's empowerment in the country.
Government's Commitment to Women Empowerment
PM Modi said that the NDA government has been consistently working towards ensuring that women get equal opportunities in all spheres of life. He noted that the government has taken several steps to improve the safety, education, and economic independence of women. The Prime Minister emphasised that empowering women is not just a slogan but a commitment that the government has fulfilled through concrete actions.
Key Initiatives for Women
The government has launched schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, which aims to address the declining child sex ratio and promote education for girls. The Ujjwala Yojana has provided free LPG connections to women from below poverty line families, reducing their health risks and drudgery. The Mudra Yojana has enabled women entrepreneurs to access loans for starting their own businesses. Additionally, the government has increased the maternity leave period and introduced the concept of 'women-led development' in various sectors.
Women in Leadership Roles
PM Modi pointed out that women are now taking leadership roles in various fields, from politics to sports, science to business. He cited examples of women officers in the armed forces, women scientists in ISRO, and women entrepreneurs making a mark globally. The government has also reserved seats for women in local bodies, ensuring their participation in grassroots democracy.
Impact of Policies
The Prime Minister highlighted that the policies have led to a significant increase in the number of women in the workforce and their contribution to the economy. He mentioned that the gender gap in education has narrowed, and more girls are completing higher education. The government's focus on digital literacy and financial inclusion has also empowered women to manage their finances and access government services easily.
Future Vision
PM Modi reiterated the government's vision of a 'New India' where women are equal partners in the nation's progress. He called upon the society to shed regressive mindsets and support women in realising their dreams. The government, he assured, will continue to create an enabling environment for women to thrive and contribute to the nation's development.
