Udupi Police Detains Over 20 KRV Activists

In a preemptive move, the Udupi district police detained over 20 activists from the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) who were attempting to stage a protest against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. The incident occurred on Thursday, as the Chief Minister was visiting the Sri Krishna Math in Udupi.

Security Arrangements

Given that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is a Z+ category protectee, the Udupi district police, in coordination with personnel from the Tamil Nadu Police, had implemented a stringent security cordon along the travel route and around the temple premises. The authorities were on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents.

Detention of Activists

The KRV activists were taken into custody before they could reach the temple area or disrupt the Chief Minister's visit. The police acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the VIP and maintain public order. The activists were later released after being served with notices, according to police sources.

The detention comes amid heightened political tensions between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over various issues. However, the police maintained that the action was purely based on security concerns and not influenced by political considerations.
