The Kerala Board of Public Examinations (KBPE) will release the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination results on Friday afternoon, ending weeks of uncertainty during the transition to a new state government. The announcement will be made jointly by the General Education Secretary and the Director of General Education after the board completed final approval procedures earlier this week.
Delay Over Ministerial Appointment Resolved
Uncertainty surrounding the declaration persisted for several days as officials debated whether to wait for the appointment of a new education minister following the Assembly election results. However, Congress leadership reportedly informed education department officials that the process could proceed without delay. Authorities were concerned that postponement might affect Plus One admissions and the broader academic calendar. This is not the first time senior officials have announced SSLC results in the absence of ministers. During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the results were announced by the General Education Secretary, and in 2016, by the Chief Secretary.
Examination Process and Evaluation
The SSLC written examinations were conducted from March 5 to March 30, 2026, across 3,031 examination centres in Kerala. A total of 4,17,497 students registered for the examinations this year. Before the written exams, Information Technology practical examinations were held from February 1 to February 14, while model examinations took place between February 16 and February 20. Evaluation of answer scripts began on April 16 and continued until early May before the examination board granted formal approval for publication of the results. Kerala follows a nine-point grading system, and students must obtain at least a D+ grade to qualify.
