The National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination, which was conducted on May 3, following allegations of a paper leak and other irregularities. The decision, taken with central government approval, came after investigative agencies flagged concerns about the integrity of the exam process.
Uncertainty Over Re-exam Date
With the cancellation, lakhs of NEET aspirants across the country are now awaiting clarity on the crucial question: when will the NEET UG 2026 re-exam be held? So far, the NTA has not announced a fresh exam date, stating only that the revised schedule will be communicated separately through official channels.
Students have been advised to regularly check the NTA NEET official website for updates regarding the re-examination, admit cards, and exam centres. The uncertainty has triggered anxiety among candidates and parents, especially those preparing for counselling, admissions, and repeat attempts.
No Fresh Registration Required
The NTA has clarified that candidates will not need to submit a new application form for the NEET UG 2026 re-exam. Existing registrations, examination city choices, and submitted forms will remain valid. Additionally, students will not have to pay any extra fee for the re-test. While registrations stay unchanged, the NTA will release new admit cards once the revised schedule is finalised.
The agency is also expected to announce details regarding city intimation slips, exam centres, and reporting guidelines closer to the new exam date.
Beware of Rumours
As discussions about possible re-exam dates circulate online, the NTA has not officially confirmed any tentative schedule. Students are urged not to rely on rumours, unofficial notices, or social media claims. Authorities have emphasised that all official announcements will be made solely through NTA channels. The agency's helpline remains active at neet-ug@nta.ac.in or 011-40759000/011-69227700.
