The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced revisions to the NEET (UG)-2026 examination framework, aiming to enhance the candidate experience. The exam is set for June 21, 2026, with changes including an extended examination window and a modified question paper booklet design.
Extended Examination Window
The NTA stated that based on candidate feedback, the exam window has been extended to 195 minutes, from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. This includes time for mandatory formalities like attendance signing and invigilation procedures. The agency emphasized that the revised window ensures candidates can fully utilize the intended exam time without feeling administrative processes reduce their opportunity to attempt the paper.
Rough Work Pages Increased
Candidates will now receive four rough-work pages instead of two, providing more space for calculations and diagrams. Addressing accessibility concerns, two rough-work pages have been placed immediately after the instruction page at the beginning of the booklet, while two remain at the end. This change benefits left-handed candidates who found the previous layout inconvenient. The revised structure applies across all language versions.
The NTA noted that even small improvements can positively impact candidates during high-stakes exams. These measures aim to make the process more comfortable while maintaining fairness and security.
