Bhubaneswar: Odisha has achieved a pass percentage of 98.17 in the ICSE (Class X) examinations and 99.24 in the ISC (Class XII) examinations, results of which were announced by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Thursday. Continuing the trend of previous years, girls outperformed boys in both examinations.
Student Performance Breakdown
According to CISCE data, 8,948 students appeared for the ICSE examination, of whom 52.26 per cent were boys and 47.74 per cent were girls. Similarly, 1,583 students, including 49.91 per cent boys and 50.09 per cent girls, appeared for the ISC examination. In ICSE, girls recorded a pass percentage of 98.69 compared to 97.69 among boys. In ISC too, girls performed better, with a pass percentage of 99.37 against 99.11 per cent for boys.
Year-on-Year Improvement
Both the ICSE and ISC results for the academic session 2025-26 marked an improvement over the previous year. In 2024-25, Odisha had recorded a pass percentage of 97.8 in ICSE and 98.8 in ISC. This year's results reflect a positive trend in academic performance across the state.
Performance of Special Category Students
As far as special category students are concerned, 1,622 OBC students wrote the ICSE exam and 98.77 per cent of them cleared it. In the case of the ISC examination, the pass percentage was 99.38 for 161 OBC students who appeared for the test.
Regional and National Comparison
CISCE secretary Joseph Emmanuel said the eastern region recorded an impressive pass percentage of 98.84 in the ICSE examinations this year, with Odisha emerging as one of the top-performing states in the region. In the ISC examination, Odisha outperformed both the eastern regional average of 98.93 per cent and the national average of 99.13 per cent, reflecting strong academic performance of students from the state in both Class X and Class XII board examinations.
Schools and Examination Details
A total of 97 schools from Odisha sent candidates for the ICSE examination, while 34 schools wrote the ISC examination. Sources said registration for the improvement exams will remain open from May 8 to 14. For re-checking, students will have to pay Rs 1,500 per paper for both ICSE and ISC exams. The application window for re-checking of answer scripts will remain open from May 1 to 4.
