Rural Districts Beat Kolkata in WB HS 2026 Results

The Higher Secondary Examination 2026 results have revealed a strong performance by rural and semi-urban districts in West Bengal, with many surpassing Kolkata in the Class 12 board examinations. While Kolkata recorded a pass percentage of 91.88 percent, several districts outside the state capital crossed the 93 percent mark.

Top Performing Districts

Purba Midnapore emerged as the top-performing district with a pass percentage of 94.19 percent. It was followed by Howrah at 93.84 percent, South 24 Parganas at 93.71 percent, and Hooghly at 93.41 percent. Nadia also posted a strong 92.68 percent success rate, while Paschim Midnapore recorded 91.96 percent. In comparison, Kolkata remained behind several neighboring districts despite maintaining a pass percentage above the state average of 91.23 percent.

A total of 6,26,258 students appeared for the Higher Secondary examination this year, out of which 5,71,355 passed. The results were declared on May 14 through a press conference held at Vidyasagar Bhavan in Salt Lake, Kolkata.
