From Rural Roots to Tax Commissioner: D Sudha Sri Ramani's Inspiring Journey

D Sudha Sri Ramani has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the prestigious post of assistant commissioner of state tax in the recent Group-1 examination results. Her journey from a humble rural background in Nidadavolu, East Godavari district, to this significant administrative position is a testament to unwavering determination and strategic perseverance.

Overcoming Multiple Setbacks Through Resilience

Ramani's path to success was not straightforward. She faced four unsuccessful attempts at the Civil Services examinations before her breakthrough. Despite not succeeding in her first Group-I attempt in 2022, she refused to abandon her aspirations. Instead, she meticulously refined her preparation strategy, strengthened her conceptual understanding of key subjects, and persisted through subsequent attempts with remarkable resilience.

Her perseverance ultimately bore fruit when she secured selection as an assistant commissioner of state tax in the recent results, demonstrating that consistent effort can overcome even the most challenging obstacles.

Strategic Preparation and Daily Discipline

Sri Ramani dedicated seven to eight hours daily to focused study, prioritizing consistency over comparison with other candidates. With over one lakh candidates appearing for the preliminary examinations, she consciously avoided being distracted by the intense competition. Instead, she concentrated on delivering her personal best performance through systematic preparation.

Over time, she thoroughly familiarized herself with the complete syllabus, examination patterns, and essential study materials. This comprehensive approach allowed her to steadily improve her preparation quality and examination performance with each attempt.

Educational Background and Preparation Journey

Academically, Sri Ramani completed her schooling and intermediate education in the MPC science stream in Nidadavolu. However, her growing interest in governance and public affairs prompted a shift to arts subjects. She pursued a BA degree in history, public administration, and geography in Hyderabad, followed by an MA in Political Science.

Her academic choices were strategically aligned with her long-term ambition to enter public administration. She also selected political science as her optional subject during UPSC Civil Services preparation, demonstrating her commitment to the field.

Soon after graduation, she underwent one year of UPSC coaching in Hyderabad. However, most of her subsequent preparation occurred from her family home in Nidadavolu. She traveled to Hyderabad primarily to attend examinations, relying on self-study, online resources, and structured study plans throughout these years.

Initially, preparation proved challenging as no one in her family had prior experience in government or administrative services, requiring her to navigate the complex examination process independently.

Family Inspiration and Support System

Her inspiration stemmed from both parents. Her father Narasimha Rao, a private tax assistant, and her mother Sudha, a homemaker, consistently encouraged her to pursue a career in administration. "My parents motivated me to prepare for administrative services, and I followed that path with my own interest. That is why I chose public administration in my BA and focused entirely on preparation without applying for other jobs," explained Sri Ramani.

This family support proved crucial in maintaining her focus and determination through multiple examination cycles, highlighting how encouragement from loved ones can fuel ambitious career pursuits.
