The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has cancelled the General Duty Constable 2026 examination at several centres following severe overcrowding and breaches in seating capacity. The disruption was reported across multiple examination venues where attendance far exceeded the permitted limits.
Reasons for Cancellation
The Staff Selection Commission confirmed that certain centres were unable to conduct the examination fairly due to excessive candidate turnout compared to available seating arrangements, leading to immediate suspension of affected shifts. Fresh schedules have now been issued for impacted candidates.
Rescheduling of Affected Examination Shifts
Affected examinations will now be rescheduled from May 27 onwards, with revised admit cards to be made available on the official SSC website, ssc.gov.in. Candidates are advised to regularly check the portal for updates.
Exam Date Adjustment Linked to Holiday Revision
The examination, originally scheduled for May 28, has been preponed to May 27 due to a revised government holiday for Eid al-Fitr. Aadhaar e-KYC verification will be mandatory at all examination venues for security purposes.
Centre Level Disruption and Capacity Breach
In centres including Bhopal, attendance figures reportedly reached 819 candidates against nearly 399 available seats, causing immediate disruption and suspension of ongoing shifts. Authorities cited repeated capacity mismatches across multiple centres, necessitating urgent intervention to maintain examination standards and fairness.
Admit Card Revision and Venue Updates
Candidates affected by the cancellation have been instructed to download fresh admit cards from the official SSC portal. The revised hall tickets will include updated examination centres, shift timings, and rescheduled dates for all impacted candidates. It is mandatory to carry the new admit card to the examination centre.
Security Verification Measures at New Centres
All candidates appearing in the rescheduled shifts will undergo Aadhaar e-KYC verification at designated centres as part of mandatory security protocols. The Commission has stated that identity verification will be strictly enforced at entry points to ensure examination integrity and prevent impersonation.
Official Communication Advisory Issued by SSC
The SSC has directed candidates to rely solely on official notifications issued through its website and regional offices. It has also cautioned against acting on unverified information circulating on social media regarding shift changes, centre allocations, or examination postponements. Candidates are urged to stay vigilant and refer only to official sources.
