SSC Issues Corrigendum for CGL 2025, Updates Disability Eligibility for Key Posts

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released a significant corrigendum for the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) 2025, revising the list of permissible benchmark disabilities for several posts. This correction, issued on March 5, 2026, modifies Annexure-V of the original notification published on June 9, 2025, and is available on the commission's official website.

Revised Disability Categories Under RPwD Act

According to the notice, the table in Annexure-V, which specifies disability categories allowed for different posts, has been updated in compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016. Candidates applying under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD) category are strongly advised to review the updated list carefully before selecting their post preferences to ensure eligibility.

Detailed Eligibility for Various CGL Posts

The annexure now includes a comprehensive list of disabilities deemed appropriate for posts such as Assistant Section Officer, Inspector, Auditor, Accountant, Upper Division Clerk, Junior Accountant, Executive Assistant, and Research Assistant. For each role, the commission has outlined functional requirements and eligible disability categories, which encompass:

  • Blindness and low vision
  • Deaf and hard of hearing conditions
  • Locomotor disabilities and cerebral palsy
  • Dwarfism and acid attack victims
  • Muscular dystrophy and specific learning disabilities
  • Autism spectrum disorder and mental illness
  • Multiple disabilities involving these categories for certain posts

The corrigendum also details functional abilities required for job roles, including sitting, standing, walking, reading and writing, seeing, hearing, communication, bending, and manipulation by fingers.

Posts Excluded from PwD Eligibility

Importantly, the corrigendum clarifies that some posts have not been identified as suitable for PwD candidates. These include the Assistant Enforcement Officer in the Directorate of Enforcement, Sub-Inspector in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Sub-Inspector in the National Investigation Agency. Applicants should note these exclusions when planning their applications.

Guidance for Candidates

Candidates applying for SSC CGL 2025 must refer to the revised Annexure-V provided in the corrigendum, as it replaces the earlier version. Those in the PwD category should thoroughly review the updated eligibility conditions before finalizing their post preferences during the recruitment process to avoid any discrepancies or issues.
