Telangana Intermediate Results 2026: Pass Percentage Soars to 75.6%, Highest in Five Years
The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) announced the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) 2026 results on Sunday, revealing a notable improvement in student performance. The second-year pass percentage increased by over 4%, climbing from 71.4% in 2025 to an impressive 75.6% this year. Official data confirms that this marks the highest pass percentage recorded in the last five years, reflecting a positive trend in academic outcomes across the state.
Exam Participation and Success Rates
Approximately 4.11 lakh students appeared for the IPE 2026 exams, which were conducted between February 25 and March 18. Out of these candidates, a total of 3.11 lakh students successfully cleared the test, according to officials from the Telangana Board of the Intermediate Education. K Keshava Rao, advisor to the Telangana government, highlighted the consistent improvement in results during the release ceremony. He stated, "The results have been very good. If you look at the numbers over the last three years, you can see that the pass percentage is consistently increasing." Rao further emphasized that public institutions are performing better than private schools and colleges, countering any misconceptions to the contrary.
Grade Distribution Among Second-Year Students
The breakdown of grades among second-year students who passed the exams is as follows:
- A Grade (above 75%): 2.13 lakh students
- B Grade (between 60% and 75%): 69,641 students
- C Grade (between 50% and 60%): 22,862 students
- D Grade (between 35% and 50%): 5,430 candidates
This distribution underscores a strong academic performance, with the majority of successful candidates achieving high marks.
First-Year Results and Gender Performance
For first-year students, the overall pass percentage stood at 66.9%, with 2,95,780 candidates out of 4,41,864 clearing the test. This represents a slight decline from last year's figure of 69.4%. In terms of grade achievements, 1.92 lakh first-year candidates secured A grade marks, followed by 65,480 with B grade.
A significant highlight of the results is the continued outperformance of girls over boys. In the second year, girls achieved a pass percentage of 81.8%, while boys recorded 68.9%. Similarly, among first-year students, girls maintained a higher pass rate of 74.4% compared to boys at 59.21%. This trend mirrors last year's outcomes, reinforcing the academic excellence demonstrated by female students in Telangana.
Recounting and Reverification Details
Students who wish to apply for recounting or reverification of their answer scripts can do so between April 13 and April 20. The fee for reverification is set at Rs 800 per subject, while the fee for recounting is Rs 100 per subject. This process provides an opportunity for candidates to ensure the accuracy of their results and address any potential discrepancies.
