Kanpur: Disha Pandey, a student of Paritosh Inter College in Hanspuram, has emerged as the district topper in the UP Board Class X examination, the results of which were announced on Thursday. She secured 581 out of 600 marks, achieving a percentage of 96.83%, which placed her at the 6th rank in the state.
Top Performers in Kanpur
A total of 25 students, including 10 girls, secured positions in the city's top 10 merit list. Anurag Mishra, also from Paritosh Inter College, secured the second position in the district and 7th rank in the state with 580 marks (96.67%). Raj Chaudhary of Patel Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Gandhi Gram, along with Ashiket Sonkar and Alok Shakya of Paritosh Inter College, shared the third position in the district with 96.33% each, placing them at the 9th rank in the state.
Examination Statistics
This year, 46,432 students had registered for the high school examination, of whom 44,074 appeared. A total of 41,959 students passed, recording a pass percentage of 95.20%.
Student Aspirations and Strategies
Speaking to the media, Disha said she studied regularly for 6–7 hours daily, increasing it to 10–12 hours during exams. Aspiring to become an IAS officer, she credited her success to self-study and guidance from school, while staying away from social media. Her father, Milan Pandey, works at a clothing shop, and her mother, Jyoti Pandey, is a homemaker.
Anurag Mishra, who aims to become an Income Tax Officer, said he followed his school's guidance strictly. Raj Chaudhary also expressed a similar career goal and mentioned using online platforms to clarify difficult topics.
Among other achievers, Alok Shakya said disciplined study routines helped him succeed and that he plans to pursue engineering. Ashiket Sonkar credited his performance to consistency and hard work and aims to become an officer through the SSC examination.
Anjali Sonkar secured 10th rank in the state and 4th in the district with 96.17%. She attributed her success to her mother's efforts, who supported her education by working at a rope factory after the demise of her father.
