The district administration in Hassan is preparing to establish Hassan Spardha Kutira, a competitive study centre at public libraries. This initiative aims to provide youths aspiring for civil services with a proper space to study. The authorities are planning to set up the centre in libraries functioning under the district central library. With this, library services are expected to go beyond their traditional role and support hundreds of youths in fulfilling their dreams.

Expansion and Facilities

The space available at the libraries will be expanded and converted into a reference section for study. To start with, required seating arrangements and a digital board will be installed at the Hassan Spardha Kutira Coaching Centre. Information about notifications from any department will be published and made available to aspiring students. The names of students will be registered, and arrangements will be made as per requirements, authorities said.

Free Wi-Fi and Internet

Deputy Commissioner KS Latha Kumari stated, “A free Wi-Fi and internet facility will be provided for students in the library.” This will enable aspirants to access online resources and stay updated with current affairs.

Affordable Food Options

An Indira Canteen, which offers food at affordable prices, will be established near Kalabhavana to ensure quality and affordable food for the aspirants. An action plan is to be prepared for necessary furniture for readers to sit in the currently functioning reference section. Additionally, a plan will be prepared for modifications to the newspaper section located in the old building of the city library. The library will be kept open even on government holidays, as students come to study.

Positive Response from Aspirants

The move has received a positive response from aspirants. Vinod, a graduate, said it was a good development for aspirants. He emphasized that officials must ensure the service is provided to candidates. He also suggested that authorities check if it is possible to involve civil servants to guide the aspirants.
