Eligibility Criteria and Age Requirements

To be eligible for the HCS 2026 recruitment, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. The basic age criteria stipulate a minimum age of 18 years for all applicants. However, the upper age limit varies according to the specific post applied for.

For the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) position, the upper age limit is set at 27 years. For all other posts included in this recruitment, the maximum age limit is 42 years. The Haryana government has established provisions for age relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved categories, which will be implemented as per the official rules and regulations of the state government.

Additionally, all applicants must be Indian citizens to qualify for these positions. The official notification contains detailed category-wise eligibility conditions that candidates should thoroughly review before applying.

Selection Process and Examination Pattern

The selection process for HCS 2026 comprises three distinct stages designed to comprehensively assess candidates' capabilities:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination
  3. Personality Test (Interview)

The preliminary examination will consist of two objective-type papers, each carrying 100 marks. The first paper will cover General Studies, while the second paper will test Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) skills. It is important to note that Paper II (CSAT) is qualifying in nature, meaning candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks, but only the marks obtained in the General Studies paper will be considered for shortlisting candidates for the mains examination.

The main examination represents a more comprehensive assessment with six descriptive papers, each valued at 100 marks. These papers include English, Hindi, and four distinct General Studies papers covering various aspects of governance, administration, and current affairs. Candidates who successfully qualify in the mains examination will be invited to participate in the final stage - the personality test or interview, which carries 75 marks.

The final merit list will be prepared based on the cumulative marks obtained by candidates in both the mains examination and the personality test, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of both academic knowledge and interpersonal skills.

This structured selection process aims to identify the most capable candidates for administrative roles in Haryana's governance system, maintaining the high standards expected of civil servants in the state.
