The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a parenting calendar for the academic year 2026–27, aiming to enhance engagement between schools and parents for the holistic development of children. This initiative builds on the parenting calendar introduced in 2025–26, which was aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's vision of holistic education and increased stakeholder involvement. According to CBSE, the calendar institutionalizes structured engagements between schools and parents, benefiting students' overall growth.
Expanded Framework for Parent Engagement
The 2026–27 parenting calendar is designed to foster collaboration between schools and parents, promoting better student engagement across various life aspects with greater parental involvement. CBSE emphasized that the initiative helps families navigate academic pressures and changing educational expectations, ensuring students receive balanced support both at home and in school.
New Focus Areas Introduced
This year's edition includes dedicated sections on Inclusion and Coping with Changes. The inclusion module aims to raise awareness and sensitivity towards diverse learning needs and promote equitable practices in schools. The 'Coping with Changes' segment helps parents and students adapt to curriculum updates and evolving academic structures. CBSE highlighted that these additions make the calendar more relevant to contemporary educational challenges.
Strengthening Parenting Workshops
The redesigned calendar incorporates parenting workshops that address developmental aspects, enabling schools to conduct age-appropriate and context-specific engagement programs. CBSE noted that these workshops will help parents understand their children's developmental stages, allowing them to provide appropriate academic and emotional guidance.
Focus on Holistic Student Development
The parenting calendar serves as a guide to improve interaction and cooperation between parents and children in both home and school settings. CBSE underscores holistic education, stating that the program is designed to build a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive ecosystem that encourages students' overall well-being and resilience.
Participation from Education Stakeholders
The virtual launch event witnessed participation from school principals, teachers, counselors, wellness educators, and parents across the country. The session focused on explaining the calendar's objectives and its implementation across CBSE-affiliated schools.
