Kolhapur: As many as 5.74 lakh students have received allotments in the first merit list for admissions to first-year junior colleges (FYJC) across Maharashtra, announced on Friday by the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) committee. The allotments were made against an intake capacity of 21.98 lakh seats. Students who have been allotted colleges must confirm their admissions by June 3.

Kolhapur Division Overview

The Kolhapur division, which includes the districts of Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, has a total of 2,02,980 seats available. In the first round, forms of 94,773 students were locked, and based on merit, 54,000 students were allotted colleges. This year, Kolhapur district experienced a 1% decline in science and commerce streams (English medium). The cut-off for science was 93.08%, while for commerce it was 93%. The admission process for FYJC covers 291 junior colleges with 70,690 seats in the division.

Admission Details

In Kolhapur district, admissions for 32,696 students were locked in the first round. This includes 31,000 admissions across science (18,980), commerce (5,787), and arts (6,280). The first-round merit list was published on the admission portal at 11 am on Friday.

Prabhavati Kolekar, deputy director of education (Kolhapur division), confirmed that admissions were granted to 30,000 students in the first round across the three streams. She stated, "Students must confirm admission to the allotted college by June 3, during which document verification and fee payment will be completed. Students must take admission only in the college allotted in the merit list. Those who did not receive an allotment as per their preference order may apply in the second round. The list of allotted students has been sent to all colleges for publication on their websites. The second-round schedule will be announced on June 5. No student should be denied admission due to missing documents. Colleges must grant provisional admission based on online printouts of mark sheets if original mark sheets are not yet available."
