The University of Mumbai is set to release the first merit list for Undergraduate (UG) admissions for the 2026-27 academic session today, May 26. Students who have applied for admission to various affiliated and autonomous colleges under the university can access the merit list starting from 11 am onwards.
How to Check the Merit List
Candidates can view the merit list on the official website, mu.ac.in, as well as on the websites of their respective colleges. The admission process covers several undergraduate courses, including Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), and Bachelor of Science (BSc) programmes.
Steps to Download the First Merit List
- Visit the official website of Mumbai University at mu.ac.in.
- Open the Undergraduate admission portal.
- Click on the link for the first merit list 2026.
- Select the college and course you applied for.
- Enter login details, if required.
- The merit list will appear on the screen.
- Download and save it for future reference.
Admission Process After Merit List Release
Students whose names appear in the first merit list must complete document verification and fee payment between May 27 and May 29 to confirm their admission. The university has stated that admissions will be granted based on marks obtained in the Class 12 examination. According to the admission rules, marks from the "best five" subjects will be considered when preparing merit rankings and cut-offs.
After the first round of admissions is complete, the university will release additional merit lists depending on the number of vacant seats. The second merit list is scheduled for May 30, while the third merit list will be published on June 4. Classes for the new academic session will begin on June 13, 2026.
UG Admission Deadline Extended
Mumbai University had earlier extended the undergraduate admission registration deadline until May 23 after revising its admission schedule. The entire admission process is being conducted through a centralised online portal, allowing students to apply for multiple colleges and courses under the university via a single platform.
PG Admissions Also Underway
Meanwhile, the university is also accepting applications for various postgraduate programmes, including one-year Postgraduate Diploma courses, two-year Postgraduate programmes, Fourth Year Honours courses, and Fourth Year Honours with Research programmes. The registration process for PG admissions began on May 9 and will continue until May 30, 2026, at 11:59 pm. Interested students can apply online through the official admission portal at muadmission.samarth.edu.in.
