NEET-UG Leak: CBI Searches Renukai Chemistry Classes in Latur

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday conducted searches at Renukai Chemistry Classes in Latur, Maharashtra, as part of its ongoing probe into the NEET-UG paper leak case. The agency seized several documents and digital devices from the coaching center, which is suspected to have been involved in the distribution of leaked question papers.

Details of the Search Operation

CBI teams, accompanied by local police, reached the premises early in the morning and carried out a thorough search. The operation lasted several hours, during which the investigators collected evidence including student records, fee receipts, and electronic storage devices. Sources said the agency is examining the role of the coaching center's owner and staff in the leak.

Background of the Case

The NEET-UG 2023 paper leak came to light after several students reported that the question paper was available on social media platforms hours before the exam. The CBI took over the investigation from state police in June, following a directive from the Supreme Court. Multiple arrests have been made so far, including those of coaching center owners and middlemen.

The CBI has registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act. The agency is also probing the possibility of a larger conspiracy involving organized gangs.

Impact on Students

The leak has caused widespread concern among medical aspirants. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a re-examination for affected candidates. However, many students have demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against the culprits.

Renukai Chemistry Classes is one of several coaching centers under scrutiny. The CBI had earlier searched centers in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi. The agency is expected to file a detailed report soon.
