RRB Group D 2025 Recruitment: Examination Schedule and Important Details
The Railway Recruitment Board has officially announced that the Group D examination for CEN 08/2024 will commence on November 27, 2025, and continue through January 16, 2026. This massive recruitment drive aims to fill 32,438 positions across various departments in Level 1 of the 7th CPC pay matrix.
Prospective candidates can now access their admit cards through the activated download link on the official RRB website. The positions available include track maintainer, assistant bridge, assistant C&W, assistant depot (Stores), assistant loco shed (Diesel), cabin man, and pointsman roles.
Examination Structure and Selection Process
The recruitment process begins with a single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT), though the Railway Administration retains the right to conduct multiple stages if necessary. Successful candidates in the CBT will advance to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), followed by document verification and medical examination.
Important examination details:
- Normalisation of marks will apply for CBT conducted in multiple sessions
- Negative marking system: One-third mark deducted for every incorrect answer
- PET shortlisting at three times vacancy numbers based on merit
- Document verification and medical test shortlisting at 1:1 ratio
Strict Examination Day Guidelines
The Railway Recruitment Board has implemented a zero-tolerance policy toward unfair means during examinations. Any candidate found cheating, impersonating, or sending someone else to appear for the exam will face permanent debarment from all future RRB/RRC recruitments and dismissal from service if already employed. Legal prosecution may also follow such violations.
Prohibited items at examination centers include:
- Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and earphones
- Electronic gadgets like pen drives, calculators, laptops, and smart watches
- Personal items including wallets, belts, shoes with metallic components
- Metallic accessories and ornaments of any kind
Candidates are strongly advised not to bring these prohibited items to examination centers as safe-keeping arrangements may not be available.
Free Travel Facility for SC/ST Candidates
The Railway Board has clarified rules regarding the free travel facility, which is available exclusively to SC/ST candidates who opted for this benefit during their online application and uploaded valid caste certificates. Eligible candidates will receive a free Sleeper Class Railway Pass as part of their E-call letters for CBT, PET, or document verification.
Key conditions for free travel:
- Candidates must have selected the correct boarding station in their application
- Original caste certificate must be carried while traveling
- Failure to produce certificate or misuse of facility will lead to candidature cancellation
- Violators may face debarment from future exams and legal action
The RRB advises all candidates to carefully read their admit cards, follow all instructions issued by the board, and reach examination centers well ahead of time to avoid last-minute complications. With lakhs of aspirants expected to participate in one of the country's largest recruitment drives, proper preparation and adherence to guidelines are crucial for success.
