Andhra Pradesh to Launch Unified Portal for Higher Education Admissions
AP to Launch Unified Portal for Higher Education Admissions

The Andhra Pradesh government is set to introduce a common portal for higher education admissions from next month, enabling students to apply for multiple courses through a single platform. Currently, students must register separately for admission into different courses, a process that the proposed system aims to streamline by bringing all admissions under one umbrella.

Simplifying the Admission Process

Commissioner of Higher Education M Nara Hari Bharat Gupta stated that students will be able to create a single profile on the portal and use it to apply for multiple courses. Based on their academic details and marks uploaded on the portal, they can also check the courses they qualify for. This system is designed to reduce the complexity and time involved in the current admission process.

Key Features of the Portal

The portal will include Aadhaar-based verification, automatic retrieval of students’ details, and will significantly reduce the need for repeated uploads of certificates and other documents during admissions. This feature is expected to make the process more efficient and user-friendly for students and educational institutions alike.

Student Data Tracking System

Beyond streamlining admissions, the government plans to use the platform as a student data tracking system to monitor academic progression from school to higher education. Officials said the proposed system is intended to maintain students’ education records and give authorities insights into whether students continue their studies after school, pursue higher education, or drop out at any stage.

Commissioner Gupta noted that the initiative follows directions from Education Minister Nara Lokesh, who has instructed officials to ensure that student education data is tracked systematically from school to college level under a unified framework. This move aligns with broader reforms in the state’s higher education sector.

Implementation Timeline

The government plans to roll out the system from next month as part of its broader efforts to modernize and improve the efficiency of higher education administration in the state. The portal is expected to benefit thousands of students by simplifying the admission process and providing a centralized platform for managing their educational journey.
