Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday directed the higher education department to commence academic and teaching activities in newly established degree colleges across 211 blocks that currently lack such institutions. Reviewing the department's functioning, Choudhary instructed officials to take necessary steps to make these colleges fully operational. He ordered the formation of a recruitment committee to assess staffing requirements and directed the preparation of a combined vacancy list for all colleges.
Public Participation and Infrastructure
The Chief Minister appealed to private citizens to donate land for the new colleges, suggesting that institutions could be named according to their recommendations. He also invited support for the construction of college buildings and emphasized that new campuses should have proper road connectivity.
Assessment and Streamlining
Choudhary further directed officials to prepare an assessment of infrastructure and staff in non-aided degree colleges to streamline grant allocation. In another initiative, he asked the department to identify the country's top 10 universities and explore memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to affiliate select Bihar colleges with them.
He also instructed the department to inform the Union ministry about the state government's decision to provide land for the proposed Vikramshila University project. Additionally, he ordered the reorganization of research institutes and university research centers in the state.
These measures aim to expand higher education access in underserved areas and improve the quality of academic institutions in Bihar.
