Patna: The state government is all set to open over 200 block-level degree colleges from July 1. To further discuss reform measures in higher education, Bihar higher education minister Sanjay Singh Tiger visited Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi on June 11.
Meeting Highlights
During their meeting, Singh highlighted the efforts the state government is taking to strengthen higher education and improve its overall quality. The minister emphasized that the state has already taken effective measures to regularize academic sessions by ensuring strict adherence to the official academic calendar across universities.
Accountability and Transparency
To enhance institutional accountability and transparency, Singh informed Pradhan that Bihar has strengthened a malpractice-free examination system. He also highlighted the implementation of a biometric attendance system to monitor the regularity of students and faculty members. In addition, universities and colleges across the state are being integrated with the Samarth Portal-based digital management system, enabling efficient monitoring of admissions, leave management, academic activities, and financial operations.
Human Resource Challenges
Addressing human resource challenges, Singh outlined ongoing efforts to fill vacancies in higher education institutions through a transparent, time-bound, and regular recruitment process to ensure the availability of qualified faculty members.
Central Support
Appreciating these reforms and the Bihar government's approach, Pradhan assured full cooperation and support from the Centre to further improve the quality and accessibility of education in the state.
