A first-year engineering student tragically died by suicide on Tuesday evening at a private hostel in Greater Noida. The incident has sent shockwaves through the academic community.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The 19-year-old victim was pursuing his degree from Delhi Technical Campus (DTC) in Knowledge Park and resided at the SNH Residency hostel, located close to his college. According to police officials, concerns arose on Tuesday evening when the student had not emerged from his room for an extended period.
Hostel staff and fellow students grew suspicious after repeated knocks and calls to his room went unanswered. The door was subsequently opened, where he was discovered hanging inside. His roommate was not present at the time of the incident. The hostel management immediately alerted the police.
Suicide Note Points to Academic Stress
A police team swiftly arrived at the scene and took custody of the body. During a search of the room, investigators recovered a suicide note. In the note, the student reportedly expressed that he was under immense academic pressure and mental stress.
The note explicitly stated that no individual was responsible for his death and requested that no action be taken against anyone, senior officers added.
Police Investigation and Next Steps
A senior police officer stated that the preliminary investigation suggests this is a case of suicide. The suicide note has been sent for forensic examination to verify its authenticity and contents.
"We are also questioning the student's friends, the hostel warden, and college authorities to understand the full circumstances that led to this extreme step," the officer said. The student's family has been informed about the heartbreaking incident.
