Gujarat University Honors Social Reformer and Launches Key Initiatives at Chief Minister's Event
In a significant ceremony held at the Atal-Kalam Centre of Gujarat University (GU) in Ahmedabad, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced the official naming of two prominent university facilities. The event highlighted the institution's commitment to honoring historical figures and fostering modern innovation.
Naming of Convention Hall and Research Park
The university's convention hall, which previously lacked an official designation, has been named "Vidyagauri Nilkanth Sabhapuram". This name pays tribute to Vidyagauri Nilkanth, a renowned social reformer and educationist who holds the distinction of being Gujarat's first female graduate. The naming serves as a permanent memorial to her pioneering contributions to education and social progress in the region.
Additionally, the newly developed research park at Gujarat University has been christened "Dhruv Kamal". This facility is designed to support advanced research activities and collaborative projects, aiming to enhance the university's academic and technological capabilities.
Launch of herSTART Program and Recognition of Women Entrepreneurs
During the event, Chief Minister Patel inaugurated the fifth edition of the herSTART program, which is run by the Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC). This initiative focuses on empowering women entrepreneurs by providing them with resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
Patel also felicitated several women entrepreneurs for their achievements and released a coffee table book that documents the inspiring journeys of 50 women-led startups. This publication aims to showcase success stories and encourage more women to venture into entrepreneurship.
University's Broader Initiatives for Innovation
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Neerja Gupta presented details on various projects and programs undertaken by Gujarat University to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among students. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to create an ecosystem that supports academic excellence and practical skill development.
The university's initiatives include workshops, funding opportunities, and partnerships with industry leaders, all designed to equip students with the tools needed to succeed in competitive fields.
The event underscored Gujarat University's dual focus on preserving its rich heritage through commemorative namings while actively driving forward-looking programs to nurture the next generation of leaders and innovators.
