Gujarat MBA Admissions: Four Centres of Excellence Now Accept CAT Scores
In a significant development for management education in Gujarat, four out of the ten institutions recently granted the prestigious status of Centre of Excellence (CoE) have decided to accept Common Admission Test (CAT) scores for admission to their MBA programmes. This move aligns with national standards and broadens access for aspiring students.
ACPC to Fill 25% of Seats in These Institutes
The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) will oversee the allocation of 25% of the total seats in these four institutes. Initially, admissions were planned for 151 seats across three CoE institutions, with applications invited from eligible candidates. However, during the application window, CEPT University joined the initiative, opting to allocate 25% of its MBA seats through CAT scores as well.
Following CEPT University's decision, the ACPC reopened the registration process and invited fresh applications from candidates. With this inclusion, the total number of seats under this category increased to 214. According to ACPC officials, 847 candidates registered for admission to these seats. After a thorough scrutiny process, 706 candidates were included in the merit list.
Selection Process and Merit List Details
Before preparing the merit list, the ACPC conducted a rigorous selection process that included:
- Group discussion (GD) rounds to assess communication and teamwork skills.
- Personal interview (PI) rounds to evaluate candidates' suitability and motivation.
Details of rejected or invalid applications have been published on the official ACPC website for transparency.
The provisional merit list is scheduled to be released on March 10. Candidates who notice any discrepancies in the list can raise queries via email between March 10 and March 13. After addressing these queries and making necessary corrections, the final merit list will be declared on March 17, marking the beginning of the admission process.
Admission Schedule and Key Dates
According to the official schedule released by the ACPC, the admission process will unfold as follows:
- Mock Round for Choice Filling: March 17 to 20, with results announced on March 23.
- First Round of Choice Filling: March 24 to 26, with seat allotment results declared on April 2.
- Fee Payment and Admission Cancellation: April 2 to 5 for the first round.
- Second Round of Choice Filling: April 6 to 8, with allotment results scheduled for April 10.
- Fee Payment and Admission Cancellation: April 10 to 13 for the second round.

This structured timeline ensures a smooth and efficient admission process for all candidates involved. The integration of CAT scores into the admission criteria for these CoE institutions is expected to enhance the quality and diversity of the MBA cohorts in Gujarat.
