The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhagalpur has officially announced the start of admissions for its Master of Technology (M Tech) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes for the upcoming academic session beginning in July 2026.
Programmes and Specialisations
Recognised as an institute of national importance by the Union Ministry of Education, IIIT Bhagalpur offers advanced research and specialised technical education across several cutting-edge disciplines.
The M Tech programme is available in three primary specialisations:
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering)
- VLSI and Embedded Systems (offered by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering)
- Electric Vehicle Technology (offered by the Department of Mechatronics and Automation Engineering)
Each specialisation has an intake of 20 seats.
Admission Categories
Candidates can apply for M Tech under different categories:
- Regular (GATE-qualified through CCMT): 5 seats per department
- Part-time
- Sponsored
- Self-financed
PhD Admissions
Admission to PhD programmes is open to both engineering and mathematics students. Desirous candidates can apply to the concerned departments.
Important Dates
The online application window opened on April 17, 2026, and will remain active until June 15, 2026. The schedule is as follows:
- Intimation for written test/interview: June 19, 2026
- Offline written test/interview: June 30, 2026
- Result declaration: July 6, 2026
- Last date of admission: July 17, 2026
According to the professor-in-charge of admissions, all dates are strictly to be followed.
