In a significant move prompted by regional instability, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has evacuated all students from its inaugural one-year executive MBA program at the Dubai campus to its main campus in Ahmedabad. This decision comes amid the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, which has disrupted air travel and raised security concerns in the Middle East.
Safety First: Evacuation Amid Regional Tensions
Officials from the premier business school confirmed that the 35 students in the current cohort were safely transported to Ahmedabad, where they will remain until the conflict subsides. The students were originally in Europe for an international immersion module, studying supply chain management in Spain, when hostilities intensified. With Dubai experiencing intermittent airspace closures, IIM-A acted swiftly to ensure their safety and academic progress.
Academic Continuity Ensured
The relocated students will continue their studies at the Ahmedabad campus, interacting with faculty and participating in activities alongside local students. IIM-A officials emphasized that they are closely monitoring the situation and will resume operations at the Dubai campus once conditions stabilize. This cohort represents the only academic program currently offered at the Dubai facility, which opened in September last year.

The one-year executive MBA program, priced at approximately $80,000 (around Rs 74 lakh), mirrors the rigorous selection process of IIM-A, requiring GMAT or GRE scores and successful personal interviews. All 35 students are Indian nationals, with some residing in the UAE and US prior to enrollment. A minimum of four years of professional experience is mandatory for admission, catering to mid-career professionals seeking advanced management education.

The Dubai campus was inaugurated in September by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the guest of honor.
