IIT Kanpur Convenes Major Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Workshop to Boost Rural Development
In a significant push for rural advancement, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) recently hosted an orientation and brainstorming session for participating institutes under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) initiative. This gathering brought together academic institutions, development partners, funding agencies, and volunteers on a unified platform to deliberate on critical issues related to rural development through collaboration and innovation.
Widespread Participation from Multiple Districts
The one-day workshop saw robust attendance, with over 40 institutions from more than 17 districts associated with IIT Kanpur participating actively. This diverse representation underscored the broad reach and commitment of the UBA program in addressing grassroots challenges across a wide geographical area.
Leadership Insights and Actionable Strategies
During the session, Prof. Sandeep Sangal, the UBA Coordinator at IIT Kanpur, delivered a motivational speech that traced the journey of UBA at the institute. He provided participants with concrete, actionable points to enhance their engagement. Notably, Prof. Sangal emphasized the importance of all partners getting involved in school education at the village level, highlighting that this dual approach would benefit both volunteers and children, fostering sustainable community development.
Further enriching the discussions, Prof. Sudhanshu S. Singh, the UBA Co-Coordinator, elaborated on various initiatives under the program. He stressed the need to address local challenges through a multifaceted strategy involving technology, training, and capacity building. Adding a visionary perspective, Prof. Raja Angamuthu, Associate Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kanpur, shared his insights on how the engagement of IIT students in villages can profoundly transform people's lives.
