Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has invited applications for its web-enabled MTech programmes and postgraduate diplomas, with May 31 being the final deadline. These programmes are designed to allow professionals to pursue advanced education without interrupting their careers.
Eligibility and Admission Process
For admission to the MTech programmes, applicants must possess a relevant educational background and a minimum of two years of work experience. The PG diploma programmes, on the other hand, are open to graduates, including freshers who have recently completed their undergraduate studies.
The entrance examinations will be conducted in June and July, and classes are scheduled to commence in August or September 2026. The selection process ensures that candidates meet the academic and professional standards required for these rigorous programmes.
Programme Structure and Flexibility
Professor Prathap Haridoss, dean (academic courses) at IIT-M, stated, 'The programme is designed to meet the evolving needs of learners and allow participants to study without pausing their careers. Classes will be held live online, usually in the evenings or weekends.' This flexibility makes it ideal for working professionals who wish to upgrade their skills.
The programmes feature a multiple entry and exit option, enabling learners to start with a PG diploma and choose either to complete the diploma or progress to the MTech degree. This modular approach provides flexibility and accommodates different career trajectories.
Courses Offered
The courses available include aerospace engineering, artificial intelligence, and information security. These specialisations are aligned with current industry demands, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for high-growth sectors.
Interested candidates can apply online at the official website: https://code.iitm.ac.in/webmtech. For more details, applicants are encouraged to visit the site and review the programme brochure.
This initiative by IIT Madras underscores the institute's commitment to leveraging technology for accessible, high-quality education. By offering web-enabled programmes, IIT-M aims to reach a broader audience, including those who cannot attend traditional on-campus classes due to professional or geographical constraints.
