NIT Trichy's Pragyan '26 Festival Begins with 'Anachronia' Theme
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy has officially launched its annual international techno-managerial festival, Pragyan '26, which commenced on Thursday. This prestigious event, a highlight in the academic calendar, brings together students, innovators, and industry leaders for a celebration of technology and management.
Unveiling the 'Anachronia' Concept
The festival's theme for this year, titled "Anachronia," was unveiled as a creative and thought-provoking concept. It explores the collision of different time periods, reflecting how past imaginations envisioned the future world. This theme sets the stage for a diverse range of activities that blend historical perspectives with cutting-edge innovations.
Inauguration by Industry Leaders
The inauguration ceremony was graced by M Prasanna Kumar, the chairman and managing director of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) India Limited, who served as the chief guest. His presence underscored the festival's connection to real-world industry applications. Following the formal proceedings, attendees were treated to an infotainment performance by W Entertainers, adding a cultural flair to the event.
Expanding Activities on Friday
On Friday, the festival expanded with the inauguration of ESI, which stands for Exhibition, Sangam, and Ingenium. This segment was inaugurated by G Aghila, the director of NIT Trichy, alongside Sivakumar Palanisamy, vice-president and chief of staff at StartupTN. Their involvement highlights the festival's emphasis on entrepreneurship and innovation.
The day featured insightful guest lectures from prominent figures in technology and research. Hrishikesh V, engineering director at CrowdStrike, and C Chandrasekharan, deputy director for instrumentation and control systems at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), shared valuable industry and research perspectives with students, fostering learning and inspiration.
Technical and Cultural Highlights
Technical events were a major focus, with competitions such as AeroRush, Fist of God, Circuitrix, and Clique and Clues engaging participants in hands-on challenges. A standout moment was the ESI inauguration and the special exhibits at GJCH, which attracted a large crowd of students, innovators, and faculty members, showcasing groundbreaking projects and ideas.
Beyond the technical realm, the campus buzzed with cultural and recreational activities. These included a thrilling TVS stunt show at the Orion entrance and multiple informal stage programmes, offering entertainment and relaxation for attendees. The festival is set to continue until February 22, promising more events and opportunities for engagement.
