Vidya Valley School Students Excel at MIT-ADT's Ankuram 1.0 Innovation Competition

Students from Vidya Valley School in Pune delivered an outstanding performance at Ankuram 1.0, an inter-school innovation competition organized by MIT–ADT College. The event served as a dynamic platform for young minds to present practical ideas aimed at addressing real-world challenges through technology and creative design.

Competition Format and Platform

The competition was structured into two distinct categories to encourage diverse approaches to innovation:

  • Presentation with Prototype: This category required students to develop and demonstrate functional models of their ideas.
  • Presentation with Poster: This category focused on visual and conceptual presentations of innovative solutions.

Organizers and volunteers provided essential guidance throughout the process, ensuring participants could effectively showcase their projects. The event emphasized hands-on learning and constructive feedback from judges, making it a valuable educational experience for all involved.

First Prize: MineBot for Mining Safety

Vidya Valley School secured the first prize in the presentation with prototype category for their project titled "MineBot". This innovative robot is designed to enhance the safety of mine workers by addressing hazardous conditions in mining environments.

The project, presented by Hridhaan Sangvi, a Std VII student, utilizes advanced sensors to detect:

  1. Harmful gases that pose health risks.
  2. Temperature fluctuations that could indicate dangerous situations.
  3. Vibrations that might signal structural instability.
  4. Human presence to prevent accidents and improve rescue operations.

By integrating these features, MineBot aims to significantly reduce risks and improve safety protocols in mining industries, showcasing the students' commitment to practical problem-solving.

Second Prize: Rakshak Sphere for Humane Stray Dog Management

The school also earned the second prize in the presentation with poster category for their project "Rakshak Sphere". This initiative focuses on the humane prevention and de-escalation of stray dog-related incidents without causing harm to animals.

The project was a collaborative effort presented by:

  • Agastya Sharan (Std VI)
  • Kiaan Kamat (Std VII)
  • Shaurya Mehta (Std VIII)
  • Rukmini Karandikar (Std IX)

Rakshak Sphere emphasizes ethical solutions to community issues, reflecting the students' awareness of social responsibility and innovative thinking in addressing local challenges.
