Robotics Training for Disabilities Launches in Thiruvananthapuram

The Different Art Centre in Thiruvananthapuram has taken a bold step forward in inclusive education. They launched an exciting new robotics training program specifically designed for people with learning disabilities. This innovative initiative, called RoboSpark, came to life through a collaboration with Srishti Innovative and Technopark.

A Joyful Launch with Friendly Robots

The inauguration ceremony buzzed with excitement and curiosity. Three friendly robots named RoboDog, Vandana, and Medha made a lively entrance. They jumped, ran, and even danced around the centre. These robots narrated stories to the children and shook hands with them. They also presented roses to the dignitaries present. Their playful performance created an atmosphere of pure joy and wonder among all the participants with disabilities.

Emphasis on Inclusive Employment

Sanjeev Nair, the former CEO of Technopark, formally inaugurated the program. In his address, he stressed the critical need for inclusive employment opportunities. He stated that organizations must go beyond just enabling individuals with disabilities to showcase their talents. They should actively take responsibility. Nair emphasized that every office should create at least one job opportunity for people with disabilities. He commended the Different Art Centre for being a dynamic hub of empowerment and opportunity for the community.

Structured Training for Future Skills

As part of its mission to create sustainable employment, the Different Art Centre is launching a comprehensive three-month robotics training programme. Dr Anil Kumar Nair, the director of Intervention at the centre, will supervise the training. The first batch includes twenty children. This initiative aims to equip individuals with future-ready skills. It seeks to open new pathways to technology-driven careers for people with learning disabilities.

The RoboSpark program represents a significant milestone. It blends technology with compassion to foster inclusion and skill development in Thiruvananthapuram.
