Sitharaman Stresses on Higher Education, Sports for India's Global Stature

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has emphatically stated that education is the singular, true pathway to development and global recognition for India. Addressing students in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district, she called upon the youth to dedicate themselves to higher studies and sports to elevate the nation's prestige on the world stage.

Infrastructure Boost for Digital and Science Learning

The minister made these remarks on Sunday while inaugurating and dedicating infrastructure facilities worth Rs 18 lakh at the Zilla Parishad High School in Peda Mainavani (PM) Lanka village, Narsapuram mandal. The facilities, provided by the Union Bank of India, include computers, science laboratories, and other basic amenities aimed at strengthening digital and science-based learning for students. Sitharaman has adopted this village for its overall development.

Interactive Session and Call to Action

During an interactive session, Sitharaman engaged with students, posing questions and encouraging active participation in digital classes. She emphasized that digital education enables students to understand global developments and improve academic standards. The minister advised teachers to ensure full attendance and provide special attention to every student.

She specifically urged youth from the coastal region to pursue higher studies and serve the nation and state with dedication. Reiterating the government's support for regional development, she stressed that students must remain focused on their education as a primary goal.

Dual Focus: Academics and Sports

Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted that alongside academics, students must give equal importance to sports. She noted that the combination of education and sports is what brings recognition and prestige to India at the global level. The minister added that today's youth carry the responsibility of shaping the country's future through progressive thinking and unwavering commitment.

The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Irrigation Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, BJP state president PVN Madhav, district collector Chadalavada Nagarani, SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi, headmaster MD Ibrahim, school education committee chairman CH Narasimha Swamy, along with teachers, public representatives, alliance leaders, local residents, students, and their parents.
