Udham Singh Nagar Shuts Schools Monday Due To IMD Dense Fog Alert
All Schools Closed in Udham Singh Nagar on Monday for Fog

In a preemptive move to safeguard students from hazardous weather, the Udham Singh Nagar district administration in Uttarakhand has declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Monday. The decision comes directly in response to a dense fog warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for the region.

District Takes Proactive Safety Measure

The order, which mandates the closure of all government, aided, and private schools up to Class 12, as well as anganwadi centres, was formalised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). The primary objective is to protect school-going children from the significant risks posed by the predicted severe weather conditions. The IMD has forecast dense to moderate fog from the early morning hours, which is expected to drastically reduce visibility across the district.

Official Directive and Strict Warning

Leading the charge, District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadoria, who also serves as the chairperson of the DDMA, has issued clear instructions for the order's implementation. He directed all concerned departments and tehsils to ensure strict compliance. The administration has underscored the seriousness of the directive by warning that any violation by educational institutions will lead to strict legal action under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Focus on Commuter and Child Safety

The administration's decision highlights a focus on preventing accidents and health issues during the prevailing cold wave conditions. Extremely low visibility during dense fog creates dangerous situations for commuters, especially for children traveling to school. By declaring a holiday, the authorities aim to minimise unnecessary movement and keep students safe at home. This action reflects a growing trend of district administrations proactively using weather advisories to make timely decisions concerning public safety and institutional operations.
