The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) successfully launched the Intermediate Annual Examination 2026 on February 2, 2026, marking the beginning of a crucial academic assessment for thousands of students across the state. The examination process commenced with impressive participation and meticulous arrangements, setting a positive tone for the entire examination period.
Massive Participation Across Examination Centres
A staggering total of approximately 5.58 lakh candidates appeared for the Bihar Board Intermediate examinations on the inaugural day. These students undertook their tests across 1,762 examination centres strategically established throughout Bihar. Among these centres, 152 have been designated as model examination centres, specifically designed to enhance the examination experience with superior facilities and specialized arrangements.
Day-One Examination Details and Subject Distribution
The first day of examinations featured two distinct sittings with different subjects catering to various academic streams. In the morning session, which ran from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm, the Biology examination was conducted for Science stream candidates, attracting an impressive registration of 4,98,475 students. Simultaneously, the Philosophy examination was administered to 3,842 candidates during the same sitting.
The afternoon session, scheduled from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm, witnessed the Economics examination being conducted for 55,964 candidates from both Arts and Commerce streams. This careful scheduling and subject distribution ensured smooth administration across different academic disciplines.
Enhanced Security Measures and Examination Protocols
The Bihar Board has implemented comprehensive security protocols to ensure the integrity of the examination process. All centres are operating under strict adherence to Board guidelines, which include two-level frisking of candidates before entry, deployment of magistrates at each centre, and adequate police personnel presence to maintain order.
Additional security measures include the installation of CCTV cameras at all examination venues, along with videography arrangements to document the entire examination process. To prevent any external interference, the Board has prohibited entry of unauthorized persons within a 200-meter radius of examination centres. Furthermore, the main gates of all centres are being closed precisely 30 minutes before the commencement of each examination session.
Special Model Examination Centres for Female Candidates
In a significant initiative, the Bihar Board has established 152 model examination centres exclusively for female candidates across various districts. Each district features four such specialized centres where only female students are appearing for their examinations. These centres boast an all-female staff composition, including invigilators, police personnel, and administrative staff.
The model centres offer enhanced facilities such as decorative flower arrangements, reliable drinking water provisions, comfortable carpets, and dedicated help desks specifically designed to assist candidates. In Patna district alone, notable model centres include Rajkiya Balika Uchcha Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Bankipur and Shastrinagar, Kamla Nehru Balika Uchcha Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Yarpur, Gardanibagh, and Rajkiya Balika Uchcha Vidyalaya in Gardanibagh.
Patna District Examination Statistics and Arrangements
Patna district has established 84 examination centres to accommodate the substantial number of Intermediate candidates. On the first day, 27,153 candidates appeared for the Biology and Philosophy examinations during the morning session, while 6,969 candidates registered for the Economics examination conducted in the afternoon session.
