Similarly, the Union Territory Administration of Chandigarh has announced that all government and private schools in the city will remain closed today, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The announcement was made on Monday, January 26, following Republic Day celebrations held at the Parade Ground. Officials confirmed that the closure applies to all schools across Chandigarh, allowing students and staff to fully participate in the national festivities.
Assam Declares Holiday for Bathou Puja
In Assam, the General Administration Department has declared a state-wide holiday today, January 27, 2026, to mark Gwthar Bathou San, also known as Bhathow Puja. This significant cultural and spiritual observance in the region reflects the state's recognition of Bathou Puja, a festival deeply rooted in the traditions of the Bodo community.
