Ludhiana Police Nab Seven in Drug Consumption Crackdown
The Ludhiana police have apprehended seven individuals from various parts of the city for consuming drugs. Cases under Section 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were registered against all suspects, and further legal action has been initiated, according to official sources.
The arrests were made during separate patrol operations and raids conducted by different police divisions across Ludhiana. Items commonly associated with drug use, such as Rs 10 notes, lighters, and silver foil, were recovered from the suspects.
Salem Tabri Police Catch Sahil Singh
During routine patrolling, the Salem Tabri police apprehended Sahil Singh while he was in the act of consuming drugs. Police recovered a Rs 10 note, a lighter, and a silver foil from his possession, which are typical paraphernalia used for drug abuse.
Police Division 4 Arrests Dinesh Kumar
In a separate operation, the Police Division 4 team arrested Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Chawni Mohalla, while he was indulging in drug abuse. The arrest took place within the jurisdiction of Division 4, and similar items were seized.
Sadar Police Detain Jaswinder Singh from Thakarwal
The Sadar police team conducted an operation in the Thakarwal area, where they caught Jaswinder Singh, also known as Shindri, a resident of Thakarwal, while he was consuming drugs. A lighter, silver foil, and a Rs 10 note were recovered from him, confirming the illegal activity.
Sahnewal Police Raid at Giaspura Chowk
The Sahnewal police carried out a targeted raid at Giaspura Chowk, leading to the arrest of Sunil Kumar and Rajinder Kumar, both residents of Jeevan Nagar. The duo was taken into custody while they were consuming drugs at the location.
Police Division 6 Apprehends Rahul Kumar at Sherpur Chowk
Police Division 6 apprehended a youth identified as Rahul Kumar at Sherpur Chowk. Rahul, a resident of the Durga Puri area in Haibowal, was caught while consuming drugs at a secluded spot. Evidence of drug use was recovered from him.
Police Division 8 Arrests Kaka Singh During Patrol
During patrolling duties, the Police Division 8 team caught Kaka Singh while he was consuming drugs. The arrest adds to the total count of seven suspects nabbed in the citywide drive against drug abuse.
All seven individuals now face legal proceedings under the NDPS Act, with authorities emphasizing the commitment to curbing drug abuse in Ludhiana. The police continue to urge citizens to report any suspicious drug-related activities to help maintain public safety.
