NEET UG 2026 Re-exam: Reporting Time, Centre Guidelines Released
NEET UG 2026 Re-exam: Reporting Time & Centre Rules

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the re-examination for NEET UG 2026, scheduled to be held on June 21, 2026. This decision follows irregularities reported in the original exam held earlier this year. Candidates who are eligible for the re-exam must report to their assigned centres by 7:30 AM, with no entry permitted after 8 AM under any circumstances.

Key Details of the NEET UG 2026 Re-exam

The re-exam will be conducted in a single shift across multiple centres nationwide. According to the NTA, approximately 1.2 lakh candidates are required to appear for this re-examination. The exam will follow the same pattern as the original NEET UG, comprising 180 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Candidates must carry their admit card, a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, etc.), and a passport-sized photograph. The NTA has strictly prohibited electronic items, including mobile phones, smartwatches, and calculators, inside the exam hall. Any violation will lead to disqualification.

Exam Centre Guidelines

All centres will have frisking and CCTV surveillance. Candidates are advised to reach the centre at least two hours before the reporting time to complete security checks. The NTA has also issued a dress code: light-coloured, half-sleeved clothes, and open footwear. Items like belts, wallets, and jewellery are not allowed.

"Candidates must adhere to the reporting time strictly. Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the exam hall," said an NTA official. The agency has also arranged for special assistance for candidates with disabilities, including scribes and extra time as per norms.

Impact on Candidates and Next Steps

The re-exam has caused anxiety among students, as many had already secured admissions based on the original scores. The NTA assures that the results of the re-exam will be declared within two weeks, and revised merit lists will be prepared accordingly. Medical colleges will adjust their counselling schedules to accommodate the new results.

Candidates are urged to regularly check the official NTA website for updates. For any queries, a helpline has been set up at 011-40759000.
