Delhi Ed Dept Moves Programmes Online Amid West Asia War

The Directorate of Education (DoE) in Delhi has shifted a series of programmes to virtual mode following the government's advice to work from home, carpool, and hold online meetings amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia. This includes an interaction between Education Minister Ashish Sood and heads of government schools.

Virtual Transition Details

All directorates are aiming to conduct 50% of their meetings through videoconferencing. Colleges have been urged to hold select non-practical classes, guest lectures, and administrative meetings online. The DoE has directed regional and district officials to ensure the participation of all heads of government schools. Meeting links and technical instructions will be shared with participants. Sources indicate that more such measures will be implemented in the coming weeks.

Guidelines for Participants

The circular also lays down guidelines for participants, including timely login, use of official designations and school names, maintaining decorum during meetings, and ensuring confidentiality of meeting links and proceedings.

Focus of Programmes

The series of programmes focuses on academic planning, implementation of educational initiatives, learning outcomes, and administrative coordination in Delhi government schools. The first interaction session for east Delhi zones 1 and 2 was held on May 12 through in-person interaction. The remaining sessions will now occur virtually, according to a circular by the directorate.

"Technology-enabled governance and direct academic engagement with school leadership are essential for strengthening Delhi's public education system while also ensuring administrative efficiency and responsible public conduct," Sood said.

Upcoming Sessions

A total of 11 sessions have been planned to cover all 28 education zones in Delhi. The next session, covering zones 24, 26, 27, and 28 in south, central, and New Delhi districts, is scheduled for Friday at 10 am online.

District-Wise Outreach

The Delhi government has launched this district-wise outreach to assess ground realities in government schools and understand the challenges educators face. The minister plans to visit every district over the next two weeks to engage with teachers and school heads.

The initiative began with an interaction programme organized by the education department at CM Shri School in Surajmal Vihar on Tuesday, where Sood met over 90 principals and heads of schools from east district's zones 1 and 2.
