Girls Continue Winning Streak in Bihar Board Class XII Results 2026
In a consistent trend of academic excellence, female students have once again surpassed their male counterparts in the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Intermediate (Class XII) examinations for the year 2026. The results, officially declared on Monday by Education Minister Sunil Kumar and BSEB Chairman Anand Kishor, reveal a strong performance by girls across all streams.
Overall Performance and Pass Percentage
The overall pass percentage for the 2026 examinations stands at 85.19%, reflecting a slight decrease from the 86.56% recorded in the previous year. Approximately 13 lakh students appeared for the exams, which were conducted from February 1 to February 15, 2026. Notably, the results were released within an impressive 35 days, marking the eighth consecutive year that BSEB has achieved this swift turnaround, a claim highlighted by the minister as a national first among educational boards.
Stream-Wise Toppers and Girl Dominance
Girl students secured the majority of top positions, with 20 out of 26 toppers across all streams being female. In the science stream, Aditya Prakash Aman from Samastipur district emerged as the topper with 481 marks (96.2%). The arts stream was led by Nishu Kumari of Gaya district, who scored 479 marks (95.8%), while Aditi Kumari from Patna topped the commerce stream with 480 marks (96%).
Detailed Rank Holders Across Streams:- Science Stream: Aditya Prakash Aman (1st, 96.2%), Sakshi Kumari (Sitamarhi) and Sapna Kumari (Nawada) tied for 2nd (95.8%), Anamika Kumari (Begusarai) 3rd (95.6%).
- Arts Stream: Nishu Kumari (1st, 95.8%), Siddhi Shikha (Sitamarhi), Chandradeep Kumar (Lakhisarai), and Md Lucky Ansari (Purnia) tied for 2nd (95.6%), Nasrin Praveen (West Champaran), Sajiya Ansari (Nalanda), Nisu Kumari (Darbhanga), and Adarsh Kumar (Darbhanga) tied for 3rd (95.4%).
- Commerce Stream: Aditi Kumari (1st, 96%), Mahi Kumari (2nd, 95.2%), Nishika Shree (3rd, 95%).
Rewards and Incentives for Top Performers
The BSEB has announced substantial rewards for the high achievers. According to Chairman Anand Kishor, the top three rank holders in each stream—science, commerce, and arts—will receive cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh, and Rs 1 lakh, respectively. Additionally, the fourth and fifth rank holders will be awarded Rs 30,000 each.
Beyond cash prizes, the top five students in every stream will also be presented with a laptop, a medal, and a certificate of merit. Furthermore, they will be eligible for a monthly scholarship of Rs 2,500 throughout their undergraduate studies, which will be provided for 3 to 5 years depending on the duration of their chosen course.
This comprehensive incentive package aims to encourage and support the academic pursuits of Bihar's brightest students, reinforcing the board's commitment to educational excellence.
