Jaipur Parents Urge District Administration for Immediate School Admissions After RTE Quota Institution Shuts Down
In a pressing development in Jaipur, parents of students enrolled under the Right to Education (RTE) quota at Tree House High School have formally submitted a memorandum to the district collector and district education officer. This action, taken on Friday, seeks urgent assistance to secure admissions in other schools following the private institution's abrupt closure due to financial difficulties.
Disruption to Schooling and Calls for Alternative Arrangements
The parents emphasized that their children were admitted through the proper RTE process, but the school's shutdown has severely disrupted their education. Tree House High School had been admitting 44 students annually under the RTE quota. With the state's RTE admission process currently underway, the parents have appealed to the district administration to prioritize accommodating the affected students in alternative schools without delay.
Through the memorandum, they demanded that, considering the future of these students, immediate and proper alternative admission arrangements be ensured in other institutions. "My daughter was selected through the RTE admission process and has been studying here for the past four years. Now, the school has suddenly closed. At this point, a refund is not my primary concern; rather, getting her admitted to another school under RTE is crucial. It is only because of RTE that I have been able to provide her with a good education until now," said Nirma, mother of a student recently promoted to Class 3 this month.
Parental Concerns and Association Demands
Parents expressed that the sudden closure has left children's education in disarray, causing confusion and anxiety among families. The Sanyukt Abhibhavak Sangh, a collective of aggrieved parents in Jaipur, asserted that it is the responsibility of the education department to intervene promptly and safeguard the academic session of the affected students.
Abhishek Jain, spokesperson for the association, stated, "This is an extremely serious matter where the future of children has been directly compromised. The arbitrary conduct of private schools is increasingly prevalent, and this incident exemplifies that trend. The education department must implement strict measures to ensure immediate alternative arrangements for these students."
The situation highlights ongoing challenges in the implementation of the RTE Act, particularly in private schools facing financial instability. Authorities are now under pressure to address these grievances and facilitate a smooth transition for the students to continue their education without further interruption.
