Chandigarh: In a swift operation, the Haryana police rescued a 12-year-old boy kidnapped from Panipat within 11 hours of the abduction. Three accused, including a woman, were arrested, while two suspects sustained injuries during a police encounter and were admitted to PGIMS Rohtak for treatment.
Details of the Abduction
According to police officials, the child was abducted on Friday night, and the kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of ₹1.5 crore from the family. In an attempt to evade capture, the accused tried to mislead investigators by creating the impression that the victim was taken to Uttar Pradesh. However, Haryana police's technical surveillance, cyber analysis and field intelligence teams successfully traced the suspects to Rohtak.

DGP Ajay Singhal praised the police personnel involved in the operation, describing the rescue as an example of professionalism, technical expertise and effective inter-district coordination. He announced a cash reward of ₹1 lakh and appreciation letters for officers and staff who participated in the mission. Panipat SP Bhupender Singh said information regarding the kidnapping was received around 10:30 pm on Friday, following which multiple police units were activated immediately. The investigation was assigned to CIA-2, which worked in coordination with surveillance and cyber teams.
Breakthrough and Encounter
The breakthrough came on Saturday morning when police located the suspects in the Rohtak area and safely rescued the child. During the operation, the accused allegedly rammed a police vehicle and opened fire while attempting to flee. Police first secured the child's safety before pursuing the suspects. In the ensuing exchange, two accused were injured and apprehended, while their female accomplice was also taken into custody.
Official Monitoring and Further Investigation
Officials said Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini monitored the case throughout the night and was regularly updated on developments. Police have launched further investigations and are questioning the accused to uncover additional details related to the kidnapping conspiracy.
