Jharkhand Academic Council Commences Board Examinations for Over 7.48 Lakh Students

The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has officially launched its annual board examinations, with a massive turnout of over 7.48 lakh students registered to appear for both matriculation and intermediate tests across the state. The examination schedule commenced on Tuesday and is set to continue through February 23, marking a crucial academic period for thousands of young learners.

Examination Centers and Student Distribution

According to official statements released on Monday, the examinations are being conducted at nearly 2,000 centers established statewide to accommodate the vast number of candidates. Detailed breakdown reveals that matriculation examinations are being held at more than 1,232 centers, while intermediate (Class XII) tests are taking place at over 750 centers.

Of the total registered students, more than 4.33 lakh candidates are appearing for the matriculation exams, with approximately 3 lakh students participating in the intermediate examinations. This significant participation underscores the importance of these board exams in shaping academic futures across Jharkhand.

Examination Timing and Procedures

The JAC has implemented specific timing schedules to ensure smooth conduct of examinations. Matriculation papers are scheduled from 9:45 am to 1:00 pm, while intermediate examinations run from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm. In a considerate move, candidates are being granted 15 minutes of additional reading time for question papers, supplemented by an extra five minutes allocated for question paper distribution.

Comprehensive Security and Monitoring Measures

JAC Secretary Jayant Mishra emphasized that all examination centers have been thoroughly prepared with stringent guidelines to maintain discipline and transparency throughout the examination process. "Examination centers have been fully prepared, and strict guidelines have been issued to maintain discipline and transparency," Mishra stated.

The security apparatus includes:

  • Deployment of magistrates, police personnel, and flying squads at sensitive centers to prevent malpractice
  • Implementation of CCTV surveillance systems at multiple locations
  • Comprehensive frisking arrangements for candidates
  • Secure transportation and storage protocols for question papers and answer sheets

Coordination and Support Systems

Mishra highlighted the close coordination maintained among the education department, district administrations, and law enforcement agencies to ensure seamless examination conduct. "We appeal to students to reach centers on time, follow instructions strictly, avoid rumours and focus on their examinations, assuring a safe and conducive examination environment," he added.

For examination-related assistance, the JAC has established multiple contact points:

  1. Examination control room at JAC office, Ranchi: 74850-93433, 74850-93436, and 0651-2261466
  2. Additional helpline number: 7717794977

These support systems are designed to address any concerns or queries that students or parents might have during the examination period, reflecting the council's commitment to facilitating a smooth and fair assessment process for all participants.
